Full & Partial Dentures

Missing teeth can cause you to lose your self-confidence and can also create a number of other problems, from difficulty speaking and eating to jawbone deterioration. Full and partial dentures have been used successfully for decades to restore the smiles of patients with missing teeth.

The Problem With Missing Teeth

Aside from detracting from your appearance, there are many problems that can result from the loss of teeth. For example:

  • Difficulty chewing food properly
  • Change in facial appearance and structure
  • Movement of adjacent teeth
  • Breakdown of jawbone

At Irving Park Dentistry, we offer several types of dentures to fit your needs:

Partial dentures consist of artificial teeth on a gum-colored base. We can use partials to replace several teeth in a row, but partials can also be made to fit like a puzzle, filling the space of missing teeth in different parts of your mouth. Partials are normally attached to natural teeth with clips or brackets. Unlike a bridge, a partial denture is removable.

Full dentures replace all missing teeth and can be crafted to look very natural. They are a complete row of upper or lower teeth mounted on a gum-colored base. We only recommend this option if you have no teeth or if those you do have can’t be saved. Full dentures are usually removable, but we can also add dental implants for greater stability.

Implant-supported dentures are secured to the jaw with dental implants, small titanium posts that are placed directly into the jawbone. If you’re worried about the nuisance of dentures that don’t stay in place and would rather not bother with adhesives, we can discuss the option of implant-supported dentures. Using implant-supported dentures gives you the freedom of knowing that your dentures are always stable and secure.

The Natural Beauty of Today’s Dentures

All too often, when people think of dentures, they picture artificial teeth that look fake. This is not true of all dentures; well-made prosthetics can be crafted to look very realistic. Today's updated materials and technology allow us to produce beautiful dentures that fit comfortably, feel great, and enhance your appearance.

Crafting dentures that look natural and complement your facial features and coloring requires a special eye for detail. Dr. Zayzafoon and her team have years of experience in creating dentures that are made just for you. During the planning process, she will talk to you about your goals and answer your questions. Working together, we can create the most realistic, durable dentures available today.
